D'Aulaires Book of Greek Myths

In print for over fifty years, no other volume of Greek mythology has inspired as many young readers as this timeless classic. Here are gods and goddesses, heroes and monsters - magnificent figures parading across the pages, as vividly described in words and pictures as if they were alive today. Both adults and children alike have treasured this book for generations, and it now features a freshly redesigned cover; a detailed new afterword about the life and work of Ingri and Edgar D'Aulaire; never-before-published sketches and notes from the D'Aulaires' research trip to Greece; and a section of photos from the life of these beloved children's book creators.

"For any child fortunate enough to have this generous book . . . the kings and heroes of ancient legend will remain forever matter-of-fact; the pictures interpret the text literally and are full of detail and witty observation." - The Horn Book

"The drawings . . . are excellent and excitingly evocative." - The New York Times
